What do our web design services in Canada include?
Strategy, design, build, content structure, technical SEO, speed work and launch support. You get a custom website on your own hosting, with a content editor your team can actually use and analytics wired up from day one.
A lot of agencies hand over a beautiful homepage and nothing else. The service pages are placeholders, the blog template was never designed, the forms email to an address nobody checks, and the whole thing scores 34 on mobile. Six months later the client is paying somebody else to fix it.
We build the whole thing. Every template that the site needs, the internal linking between them, structured data, image handling, form routing into your CRM, and the tracking that tells you which pages produce enquiries. Then we train your team on the editor so small changes do not need a support ticket.
The stack depends on the job. WordPress where the marketing team needs to move quickly on their own. Next.js where speed and scale matter, or where the site is feeding an application. Shopify for product led ecommerce. We will tell you which one fits before you pay for anything.
- Custom design, not a licensed theme with your logo dropped in
- Every template designed, including blog, category and 404
- Core Web Vitals treated as a build requirement, not an afterthought
- Forms routed into your CRM with the tracking attached

What is included in a website build?
Discovery and sitemap, wireframes, visual design, responsive build, content migration, technical SEO, speed optimisation, analytics, and thirty days of post launch support. Hosting and domain stay in your name throughout.
This is the standard scope. Ecommerce, booking systems and multilingual sites add to it, and we quote those separately.

- Copy structure and headings, with writing available as an add on
- Image sourcing, cropping and compression
- Accessibility checks on contrast, focus states and labels
Build and technical
- Responsive build tested on real devices, not just a browser resize
- Core Web Vitals work: image formats, font loading, script deferral
- Schema markup for the business, services and any FAQs

How does the website design process work?
Four phases over six to twelve weeks: discovery and structure, design, build, then launch. You approve at the end of each phase, and nothing moves forward until you have signed off on what came before.
- Week 1 to 2
Discovery and structure
We look at your current site, your competitors and your search data, then agree the sitemap and what each page has to achieve. This is where most of the ranking decisions get made.
- Week 2 to 5
Design
Wireframes first so the structure is settled without colour distracting anyone. Then full visual design on desktop and mobile for every template, revised until you are happy.
- Week 4 to 9
Build
Development on a staging URL you can watch. Content goes in, speed work happens as we go rather than at the end, and every template gets tested on real devices.
- Week 9 to 12
Launch and support
Redirects, tracking, sitemap submission and a pre launch checklist. We stay on it for thirty days afterwards to clear anything that surfaces once real traffic arrives.
How much does a website cost in Canada?
Canadian agency builds usually run from 3,500 dollars for a small brochure site to 30,000 dollars and up for ecommerce or custom applications. What moves the number is template count, content volume, integrations and how much writing is needed.
The figures below are the bands we quote in. We give a fixed price after discovery, not an hourly estimate that drifts, and the scope is written down so both sides know what is in and what is not.
| Type of site | Typical range | Timeline | What drives the price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brochure site, 5 to 8 pages | $3,500 to $7,000 | 4 to 6 weeks | Template count and whether copy is supplied |
| Service business, 10 to 25 pages | $7,000 to $15,000 | 6 to 10 weeks | Number of service pages, location pages, integrations |
| Ecommerce | $12,000 to $30,000 | 8 to 14 weeks | Catalogue size, payment and shipping rules, migrations |
| Custom or application | $25,000 and up | 12 weeks and up | Custom logic, user accounts, third party systems |
| Redesign of an existing site | $5,000 to $18,000 | 5 to 10 weeks | How much content and SEO equity has to be preserved |
Care plans for hosting, updates, backups and small changes run separately from around 150 dollars a month.
Why not just use a template or a website builder?
Builders are fine for a first site with no search ambitions. They cost you later in speed, in structure you cannot change, and in SEO limitations that only surface once you actually need to compete for traffic.
| Comparison point | A custom build with us | Template or drag and drop builder |
|---|---|---|
| Page speed | Built lean, tested against Core Web Vitals | Loaded with unused scripts from the theme and plugins |
| Structure | Sitemap planned around real search demand | Whatever pages the template happened to include |
| SEO control | Full control of titles, schema, canonicals, redirects | Partial control, some things simply not editable |
| Ownership | Your hosting, your domain, your code | Locked to the platform, migration means a rebuild |
| Design | Made for your business and your offer | Recognisable as the template other businesses also bought |
| Support | The people who built it fix it | A help centre article and a support queue |
If a builder genuinely is the right answer for your budget and stage, we will say so rather than sell you a build you do not need.
What else can we do on the website side?
Design and development are the core, but most projects touch two or three of the services below. Each one runs as part of a build or as a standalone piece of work on a site you already have.
Website designing
Visual design and layout work for businesses that already have development covered or want a redesign only.
See the detail02Custom web development
Functionality a template cannot handle: portals, calculators, integrations and custom back ends.
See the detail03UI/UX wireframing
Structure and user flows mapped before design starts, which is where conversion problems are cheapest to fix.
See the detail04Website maintenance
Updates, backups, uptime monitoring and small changes so the site does not quietly rot after launch.
See the detail05Website optimization
Speed, Core Web Vitals and conversion improvements on a site that already exists.
See the detail06Technical website analysis
A full technical audit when you need to know exactly what is wrong before deciding to fix or rebuild.
See the detailWill the new website keep my search rankings?
Yes, when the migration is handled properly. Every existing URL gets mapped to its replacement with a permanent redirect, titles and content are preserved or improved, and we monitor Search Console daily for the first two weeks.
Losing rankings during a redesign is common, and it is almost always avoidable. The usual causes are simple: URLs changed without redirects, page content cut down for design reasons, the staging site left open to indexing, or a noindex tag that never got removed at launch.
We work from a pre launch checklist that covers all of those. Before anything goes live we crawl the old site, crawl the staging site, and compare them page by page. Anything that lost a title, lost a heading, or lost meaningful content gets flagged and decided on deliberately rather than by accident.
After launch we watch coverage and impressions daily for two weeks, then weekly for a month. A small dip while Google recrawls is normal. A real drop gets diagnosed and fixed under the build, not billed as extra work.
- Redirect map built from a crawl of the live site, not from memory
- Content parity check on every page before launch
- Staging blocked from indexing, launch checklist to unblock production
- Daily Search Console monitoring for the first two weeks

What standards does every site we build have to meet?
Every build has to pass the same checks before we will launch it: mobile performance, layout stability, accessibility basics and full tracking. These are not upgrades, they are the minimum we ship.
Performance targets are measured on a throttled mobile connection, not on a desktop on office fibre. If a page cannot hit the target because of something you need, a third party booking widget for example, we tell you the trade off up front rather than quietly missing the number.
- Mobile performance target
- 90+
- Cumulative layout shift
- < 0.1
- Templates designed, not defaulted
- 100%
- Post launch support included
- 30 days
Website questions we get asked before every build
Ask anything not covered here on the call. There is no charge for the conversation and no obligation after it.
Ask us directlyHow long does it take to build a website?
Most business websites take six to ten weeks from kickoff. Small brochure sites can be four. What usually delays a project is content, so if you have copy and images ready, or you have us write them, the timeline holds. We book the launch date at kickoff and work backwards from it.
Do I own the website when it is finished?
Completely. The domain and hosting are in your name from the start, the code is yours, and every account we set up is created under your email with you as owner. If you move to another agency later, nothing has to be rebuilt or bought back.
Do you write the content or do I have to?
Either. Content writing is a separate line on the quote, so you can supply your own copy, have us write all of it, or split it. Most clients have us write the service pages, since those carry the search value, and supply their own about page and team bios.
What platform will my site be built on?
WordPress, Next.js or Shopify depending on what the site has to do. WordPress suits marketing teams who publish often. Next.js suits sites where speed and scale matter. Shopify suits product led ecommerce. We recommend one during discovery and explain the trade offs.
What happens after the site launches?
Thirty days of fixes and adjustments are included. After that, most clients move to a care plan covering hosting, updates, backups, uptime monitoring and a monthly allowance of small changes. It is optional and month to month.
Can you redesign my site without changing the URLs?
Yes, and where the current URLs are clean that is usually what we recommend. Where they are not, for example long dated permalinks or query strings, we change them and redirect properly. Either way nothing is left returning a 404.
Will my site work on mobile?
Every build is designed mobile first and tested on real devices before launch. More than half of Canadian traffic for most of our clients is mobile, and for local searches it is often much higher, so mobile is the primary design target rather than a scaled down version of desktop.
Can you fix my existing site instead of rebuilding it?
Often yes, and it is usually cheaper. If the platform is sound and the problems are speed, structure or conversion, an optimisation engagement will do more per dollar than a rebuild. We will tell you which after looking at the site, and we do not get paid more for recommending the rebuild.
